Dr. Joseph Chasteen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. He is the author of two textbooks on dental assisting and four-handed dentistry. His interests include dental practice management, instructional design and the use of computer technology in dental education and in contemporary dental practice. Dr. Chasteen received his dental degree and his Masters in Education from the University of Michigan.

Connie Drisko, DDS, was a practicing dental hygienist for 16 years before receiving a dental degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completing a hospital-based general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Leavenworth, KS. Dr. Drisko received her certificate in Periodontics and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 1990, and in 1995 became a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. She is currently Dean at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta, GA. Dr. Drisko conducts clinical research in local drug delivery, non-surgical therapies, and oral health and systemic diseases at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.

Dr. Forrest is an Associate Professor and Director of the National Center for Dental Hygiene Research at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Dr. Forrest has received over $1.5 million in federal funding for grants related to faculty development, including programs on the use of computer technology and communications and on integrating Evidence-Based Decision Making into curricula. Her research and publications also have included dental caries and oral cancer prevention knowledge and practices. In addition, she is the lead co-author on "An Evidence-Based Approach in Dental Hygiene Practice, Education, and Research," a white paper for the American Dental Hygienists' Association. Dr. Forrest is active in several national and international associations and serves on several other editorial boards including the Journal of Dental Hygiene and the Journal of Evidence-Based Dental Practice. She received her BSDH from Fairleigh Dickinson University, MS in Dental Public Health from Boston University, and a doctorate in Higher Education form Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Gary F. Guest is an Associate Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences in the School of Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Having published and served on a variety of information technology committees, he is nationally recognized for his contributions to the advancement of computer technology in dentistry. His interests include clinical oral medicine and information technology in dental education and in dental practice. Dr. Guest received his dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School.

Mary Ann Haisch is an Assistant Professor in the School of Dentistry at Oregon Health & Science University. She received her dental hygiene education from Clark College, Vancouver, WA and her Bachelor of Science in Health Education, certification in gerontology, and her master in Public Administration from Portland State University. Her areas of interest include the use of technology in dental and dental hygiene education, interactive distance learning, and the use of the Internet for dental continuing education. Ms. Haisch is actively involved in the development of faculty tools to incorporate interactive technology in dental and dental hygiene curricula. She is also involved in the recruitment and retention of dental and dental hygiene students. She holds offices for the American Dental Education Association and is on the editorial board for the Journal of Practical Hygiene.

Dr. Mark Jensen currently serves as the Associate Editor for the Journal of Contemporary Dental Practice. He resides in Diamondhead, Mississippi and practices general dentistry part-time on the gulfcoast. He was previously in private practice in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area from 1990 until 2005. After receiving his DDS and his PhD in Oral Biology from the University of Minnesota, he held faculty positions there and at the University of Iowa. Dr. Jensen has published numerous articles and book chapters on dental materials and research in cariology. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of the American Journal of Dentistry; and the Journal of Clinical Dentistry and serves on the Editorial Team of REALITY. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists (FACD); the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD); and the Academy of Dental Materials (FADM). Dr. Jensen is certified by the American Board of General Dentistry (ABGD), and a life-time Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Examiners (DABFE). His interests include esthetic dentistry, dental practice management, computer technology in dental practice, and distance education in dentistry.

Salme obtained her basic dental hygiene education from the University of Toronto, a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Anthropology from Lakehead University and a Master of Science degree in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Dentistry. Additionally, she holds certification in Advanced Periodontics and Local Anesthesia (Northern Arizona University) and Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen Sedation (UMKC). Salme has over 30 years experience in Dental Hygiene Education and administration in both Canada and the United States. Currently she is Associate Professor and Director, School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Dentistry. Salme teaches periodontics to both second year dental and dental hygiene students as well as local anesthesia. She is the author of numerous peer reviewed journal articles as well as three text book chapters. Salme is a popular speaker and has delivered over 40 continuing education and research presentations in Canada, the US, Scandinavia and Australia. In addition, she has held numerous professional offices, most notably the President of the Canadian Dental Hygienists’ Association; Councilor for the Section on Dental Hygiene Education for the American Association of Dental Schools, now ADEA, and is currently a commissioner for the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada.

Ann L. McCann has directed two federal grants (HRSA) to develop and nationally disseminate assessment methods and tools.  Her second grant (1996-99) involved presenting over 45 presentations and workshops on assessment and competency-based education to health profession educators across the country.  She has additionally directed evaluation activities for seven other federal grants.  In 1993, she was awarded the Dental Hygiene Teacher of the Year award at Baylor College of Dentistry.  In 1994, Ms. McCann was appointed as the Director of Assessment, responsible for assessment activities.  Since 1999, she has served as Director of Planning & Assessment, leading the committee responsible for developing the institutional strategic plan and monitoring its progress with assessment activities.  Ms. McCann has led the College’s self-study efforts for institutional effectiveness for the Commission on Dental Accreditation in 1997 and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 2002.  She was a 2001-02 fellow in the Leadership Institute of the American Dental Education Association and has been a consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation for nine years. Prior to her appointment at Baylor, Ms. McCann was at the University of Detroit for fifteen years and served as the Chair of Dental Hygiene from 1984-1988.

Dr. Muñoz-Viveros is a graduate of Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña in the Dominican Republic, where he received his DDS degree in 1978. During 1980 to 1981, he received an American DDS and a Masters degree in Prosthodontics from Indiana University.

Dr. Muñoz is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics; the International Association of Dental Research; the Hispanic Dental Association; the Academy of Dental Materials and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists.

He has presented lectures in Central and South America, the United States, Asia and in Europe. He has authored over 50 scientific articles, contributed to clinical textbooks, and serves as journal reviewer. His research focus is in dental adhesives, composite restorations and ceramic materials.

Currently, he is Professor and Chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry at The State University of New York at Buffalo.

Dr. Niederman is a Senior Scientist and Director of the Center for Evidence-Based Dentistry at The Forsyth Institute, a Harvard affiliated research institute. His current research and clinical interests focus on technology transfer. In this area he also consults for a number of local, state, and national organizations as well as professional associations and international corporations with interests in bringing new technology, evidence, and access into practice. He received both his dental training and his periodontal specialty training at Harvard and his evidence-based healthcare training at Oxford.

Dr. John Williams is the current Dean at the School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Williams served as the Dean at the University of Louisville from 1999 until May 2005. He enjoys a national reputation as an advocate for dental education having previously served as an officer in the American Association of Dental Schools. His interests include dental practice management and the use of information technology in dental education and in dental practice. Dr. Williams received his dental degree and his MBA from the University of Louisville.
